About Samantha Bailes, M.S., CALT

Samantha Bailes is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and former Loudoun County Public School teacher with a current Virginia teaching license. She holds a Master of Science in Child and Adolescent Psychology and received extensive training through the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC).

Ms. Bailes is an active member of the dyslexia community, including the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA), the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), the Virginia Chapter of ALTA, and the Virginia Reading League. She has also served as President of Virginia-ALTA, as a board member of the national ALTA association, and as chair of ALTA’s public relations committee.

As a parent of three children with dyslexia, she understands firsthand the challenges families face when seeking the right support. With experience across public schools, private schools, and homeschooling, she is available to help families navigate educational options and explore how Academic Language Therapy can fit into their child’s learning journey.

Ms. Bailes discovered the powerful Sounds in Syllables (SIS) program through her search for effective dyslexia intervention for her own children. SIS, an Orton-Gillingham-based program, is at the core of ASDEC’s intensive training for Certified Academic Therapists, which requires a minimum of two years and 700 hours of supervised therapy. In addition to completing this rigorous training, Ms. Bailes earned her CALT certification through ALTA.

Beyond working directly with students, she also supports therapists, tutors, and parents through DyslexiaMedia.com.
